Just one week before Alan Wake 2's worldwide release, the game's maker, Remedy Entertainment, is telling us what PCs need to run this scary adventure game. It's been 13 years since the first Alan Wake game, and fans can't wait to see what's new in this sequel.

The first game was more like a movie-style action-adventure, but Alan Wake 2 is all about survival horror. It keeps the same creepy and moody look that made the first game famous. People who've gotten a sneak peek at Alan Wake 2 love the style, but that high-quality look means the game needs a strong PC to work right.

For basic gaming (1080p / 30FPS), you'll need at least an RTX 2060 and i5-7600K, or something like that from AMD. For the best 4K quality, you'll need an RTX 4070, and an RTX 4080 for super-high 2060p with ray tracing. But for 1440p or even just smoother 1080p gaming, you need something at least as good as the RTX 30 series cards from NVIDIA or similar from AMD.

These needs seem pretty high. The RTX 2060 / i5-7600K pair is close to what another game, Baldur's Gate 3, recommends, but for Alan Wake 2, this is the minimum. The lowest suggested video card is the RTX 3060, and you need an RTX 3070 for any ray tracing.

Some players aren't happy about needing such strong PCs to play Alan Wake 2, but the game will be on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S too, not just PC. So, it's really a game meant for the newest gaming systems. As the PC needs suggest, if you want the game to look amazing, you need a powerful PC.
