THE FINALS Update 4.9.0
Embark Studios

THE FINALS Update 12.2.0 arrived on November 5, 2026, with a refreshed Store, more information about TGM26 and a round of balance changes aimed at the Medium class. The developers also remind you that there are still a few more days to redeem any tickets you have left before the Frights Galore Event closes.

The balance work is the main story this week, because it targets how Mediums fare against the now 175 HP Lights. We will go over every change in THE FINALS 12.2.0 below, from the weapon tweaks to the new store sets and the Cosplay Showcase.

THE FINALS 12.2.0 Highlights

  • AKM: ammo count rises from 34 to 36.
  • Chimera-XB: damage rises from 47 to 48 and rate of fire from 260 RPM to 280 RPM.
  • FCAR: damage rises from 23 to 25, while rate of fire drops from 530 RPM to 500 RPM and ammo count from 25 to 20.
  • Store: the Goat Expectations Set and the Dual Shockers Set are available.
  • TGM26: a THE FINALS Cosplay Showcase will take place at DreamHack Stockholm.

Store

If you're going to butt heads with the competition, the Goat Expectations Set lets you do it in style. For Contestants feeling some nostalgia, the Dual Shockers Set is here to fulfill your pixelated needs.

TGM26 Cosplay Showcase

The Grand Major 2026 is coming up, and all Contestants are invited. The developers saw your passion online and in person last year, so this time they are hosting their own THE FINALS Cosplay Showcase at DreamHack Stockholm.

You show off your costume, step on the stage and impress the Sponsors. There is no vault to steal and no cashout to defend, just you, your creation and the audience. Impress them and you could win some merch. Every Contestant who takes part also receives a participation Diploma and Multibucks. The details and the sign-up information are in the official notes.

12.2.0 Balance Changes

Why Medium Is Getting Buffs

The developers are tweaking some of the Medium's automatic and semi-auto weapons to solve two problems. The first is improving the Medium's chances when dueling the now 175 HP Lights. The second is giving Mediums more viable tracking aim options in their weapon pool.

They say they could have nerfed Light weapons instead, but Light still lags slightly among the archetypes across many skill tiers and modes, so they would rather target this match-up specifically. Heavy lost some HP in 12.0 and has coped just fine, in large part because of its wide array of defensive tools against a more powerful Light. The team expects Heavy to handle these Medium buffs in a similar way, while Medium versus Light match-ups become a little more balanced.

AKM

  • Ammo count: 34 ⇒ 36

Chimera-XB

  • Damage: 47 ⇒ 48
  • Rate of fire: 260 RPM ⇒ 280 RPM

FCAR

  • Damage: 23 ⇒ 25
  • Rate of fire: 530 RPM ⇒ 500 RPM
  • Ammo count: 25 ⇒ 20

The developers are shifting the FCAR back toward the direction it had earlier in the life of the game, as a slower firing but more punchy weapon. That differentiates it slightly further from the AKM.

What Comes Next

These are "tweakable" changes, meaning the team can deploy them without patching the game client because they need no new code or content such as audio, animations or VFX. In 12.3, an additional small round of balance changes will arrive in support of this set, but the developers did not want to wait for those before making these adjustments.

And that covers all of the changes in THE FINALS 12.2.0. You can read the official notes on the Steam news page. If you want to see what changed before this update, check out our 12.1.0 patch notes and the 3.2.0 patch notes, or browse our Season 3 Medium build weapons tier list.
