The Sims 4 (TS4) is introducing an eagerly awaited expansion, The Sims 4: For Rent, packed with content that simmers have long yearned for. While apartment lots have been part of the game for a while, this new expansion takes the tenant and landlord experience to a whole new level. Let's delve into the details.

Units or Residential Rentals in TS4: For Rent

The Sims 4 now introduces multi-residential lots, as the expansion's title suggests. Simmers can now construct residential lots and convert them into distinct homes. It's possible to divide one lot into up to 6 units, accommodating a total of 8 sims. Despite the new additions, there's still a loading screen between visiting units, maintaining the traditional Sims 4 experience without an open-world feeling.

Rent can be set per day and also, as a landlord, you can set unit rules for your tennants, such as:

  • no social events
  • no loud noices
  • maximum occupancy
  • no trash overload
  • no ghosts

Just like bussinesses, rental lots in TS4: For Rent will have 5 star ratings, depending on the lot size, amenties, environment, maintenance. Landlords can perform inspection passes and Meintenance events for fixing everything broken.

This whole new rental gameplay brings a spin to landlords and tennants in The Sims 4. As expected, Landlords don't only collect the simoleons from their tennants - they'll have to make sure everyone's happy and the lot is in a good condition. Landlords can perform inspection passes on their rental lot and they also have to do Meintanance Events, in which they fix broken plumbing or appaliences for their tenants.

New World: Tomarang

Tomarang is a Southeast Asian-inspired beach city wich offers lots of fun to simmers. The main-event will probably be the market which offers sims lots of cool purchases. There are 9 lots available, and only 3 of them are empty, which makes Tomarang quite small.

New Part-Time Job, Collections and Mold Problem

The new part-time job handyperson goes hand in hand with the tasks landlords have. There are two brand new collections to explore with your sims - Marbles and Tassles. Fun addition to the game will be the new squat toilets, which adds more dimention to the idea of different cultures co-living in The Sims's World.

The Mold Problem was already teased in the trailers - as a landlord or a tenant you'll have to be quick to stop mold from spreading around your lot, as it might turn your sims into zombies.

Final Thoughts

The new world and CAS options in TS4: For Rent don't seem promising, however, we think the new addition to the gameplay might make it up for this. There's plenty of things to discover and try out as a landlord and a tenant and we can't wait to experience it. The official launch of The Sims 4: For Rent will be on December 7, 2023.
