World of Warcraft's next expansion The War Within will feature a brand new raid upon launch, inviting players to defeat the mighty Nerubian race in the Nerub'ar Palace. Wowhead was able to datamine a lot of content from the Alpha build, so we will be taking a look at all of the bosses in the new raid. 

It is interesting to see what Blizzard has in store for the players, as retail prides itself on mechanically complex but rewarding fights that will surely offer a challenge to everyone. 

We will go over the abilities that were discovered along with some mechanics so we can get a grasp of what to expect from each encounter. This time around, we will be reviewing The Bloodbound Horror.

Nerub'ar Palace The Bloodbound Horror Boss Abilities

We will look at each ability as well as take a look at the encounter itself. This boss has two phases so players will need to be cautious about new mechanics.

Phase 1: The Black Blood

  • Hematemesis: The Bloodbound Horror vomits on their current target, inflicting 124915 Shadow damage in a frontal cone. Players hit are afflicted with Baneful Shift.
  • Baneful Shift: Black Blood seeps into the player, allowing them to briefly peer inside The Unseeming. The realm oppresses the player with the highest form of toxicity, inflicting 17488 Shadow damage every 2 sec for 40 sec. [Upon exiting the player is Hell-Shocked.]
  • Hell-Shocked: The Unseeming leaves the player terrified, increasing damage taken from Baneful Shift by 500% for 1 minute. (Normal, Heroic, Mythic)
  • Spewing Hemorrhage: The Bloodbound Horror spews concentrated blood around itself for 23 sec, inflicting 249830 Shadow damage every 0.3 sec to players within. (Mythic, Heroic)
  • Bloodcurdle: The Bloodbound Horror draws in blood from around itself before letting out a bloodcurdling scream, inflicting 374746 Shadow damage to players within 60 yards. This roils the blood of all players, inflicting 24983 Shadow damage every 1 sec for 10 sec.
  • Residual Membrane: The Bloodbound Horror's membrane sloughs off every 30 sec coating all players not in The Unseeming in its residue, causing them to absorb 85194 healing.
  • Grasp From Beyond: The Bloodbound Horror calls into The Unseeming to target multiple players, causing tentacles to begin to form at their location every 1 sec for 12 sec. After 3 sec each tentacle erupts, inflicting 99932 Shadow damage to all players within 4 yards.
  • Black Blood: A river of blood seeps out of The Bloodbound Horror, inflicting 20% of maximum health as Shadow damage to players standing within every 1 sec.
  • Black Sepsis: If no players are within reach, The Bloodbound Horror continually expels contaminated blood that inflicts 62458 Shadow damage to all players every 2 sec.

Phase 2: The Unseeming

Mobs start spawning to aid the Bloodbound Horror Boss. 

Lost Watcher

  • Black Bulwark: The Lost Watcher channels the essence of The Unseeming into The Bloodbound Horror, causing it to absorb 638952 damage, increasing every 1 sec.
  • Spectral Slam: The Lost Watcher slams their current target, inflicting 199864 Physical damage.

Forgotten Harbinger

  • Manifest Horror: The Forgotten Harbinger manifests a Blood Horror out of The Unseeming that slowly moves toward The Bloodbound Horror. 

Blood Horror

  • Blood Pact: Blood Horrors that reach The Bloodbound Horror are absorbed, inflicting 49966 Shadow damage to all players and increasing The Bloodbound Horror's damage done by 5% for 1 minute. This effect stacks.

And that covers all of the abilities and mechanics of the boss we know so far. The War Within is setting up to be quite an exciting expansion, filled with a lot more content for both raiders and open-world enjoyers alike.
