Niantic has announced the Dynamax Trails event for Pokemon GO, a week of Max Battles that brings Eternatus back. It runs from Monday, November 16, at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, November 23, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

If you want to catch Eternatus or stock up on Max Particles, the dates matter, because the biggest battle is a three-hour window on November 21. This article covers the event bonuses, the Spotlight Hour, the Eternatus schedule and the GO Pass rewards, based on the official Pokémon GO announcement.

Dynamax Trails Event Details

During the event you have a chance to receive Max Particles when you catch event-themed Pokémon in the wild or after Max Battles. More Power Spots than usual will be active. Max Particles can't be obtained from catches made with the Explorer Gadget or a Pokémon GO Plus +.

You may meet event-themed Pokémon in the wild, including any Pokémon that has debuted in Dynamax Max Battles (Legendary and Mythical Pokémon are excluded). In Max Battles, every Dynamax Pokémon that has appeared in Pokémon GO may show up, again excluding Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. In Max Battles you also have a chance of a Special Background after a successful catch.

  • Spotlight Hour: Thursday, November 19, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, featuring Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble, with 2× Catch Candy as the bonus. You may even meet a Shiny one.
  • Field Research: event-themed tasks give encounters with event-themed Pokémon, plus Stardust, Eternatus Candy and more.

Eternatus Returns on November 21

The Poison- and Dragon-type Legendary Pokémon returns on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time. Eternamax Eternatus will take over the majority of Power Spots during that window.

You can't catch Eternamax Eternatus after beating it in a Max Battle. You will earn a large amount of Eternatus Candy and Eternatus Candy XL, though, and you can use them to power up the Eternatus you catch through GO Pass: Dynamax Trails. Eternatus can only be caught once during this event, and it needs much more Candy and Candy XL to power up because of its massive power. If you've already caught Eternatus, you can keep going with it and receive Eternatus Candy to power it up.

The following bonuses are active during the Eternatus window:

  • Power Spots refresh more frequently.
  • The Max Particle collection limit increases to 2,400.
  • You get 8× Max Particles from Power Spots.
  • From November 20 at 1:00 p.m. to November 21 at 6:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8), the daily Remote Raid limit rises from 10 to 30.

GO Pass: Dynamax Trails

A GO Pass is a free, limited-time progression track. You collect GO Points and raise your rank to earn rewards. Everyone receives GO Pass: Dynamax Trails automatically on Monday, November 16, at 10:00 a.m. local time. Trainers who claim Tier 1 rewards on GO Pass: Into the Wild get early access on Saturday, November 14, at 10:00 a.m. local time, plus a free upgrade to GO Pass Deluxe.

You can upgrade to the GO Pass Deluxe for US$4.99 (prices may vary by region), which offers upgraded rewards and faster progression. Rewards unlocked in the GO Pass expire on Wednesday, November 25, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

  • Free pass rewards: encounters with event-themed Dynamax Pokémon with a Special Background, an Eternatus encounter (or 100 Eternatus Candy if you've already caught it), Eternatus Candy and Candy XL, Rare Candy, Stardust and stickers.
  • Deluxe rewards: additional Dynamax encounters, even more Eternatus Candy and Candy XL, Silver Pinap Berries, Rare Candy XL and stickers.

Milestone bonuses also unlock as you rank up: 2× Catch Stardust from Rank 15, half Candy and Stardust to activate the Dynamax Cannon Adventure Effect from Rank 35, and additional Candy and Candy XL from Max Battles from Rank 55.
