LoL MSI 2024: All Stages Schedule and Format

The League of Legends 2024 Mid-Season Invitational is upon us as every major region is preparing to head to China to compete in a very exciting and high-stakes tournament. MSI has been a staple in LoL Esports as it is one of the two major competitions that place the pros on an international stage, facing the best of the best that every region has to offer.

MSI 2024 will be held in Chengdu, China from May 1-19, with 12 qualified teams from around the world at the Chengdu Financial City Performing Arts Center. This time around, the tournament will not only offer a substantial cash reward but also a guaranteed spot at World 2024. 

With that being said, we will take a look at the schedule for MSI 2024 as well as the format for each stage so you can keep track of your favorite teams and see how the LCK, LPL, LEC, LCS, LLA, CBLOL, PCS and VCS will fair up against fierce opponents for a chance to win the MSI Title and direct qualification for Worlds 2024.

When Does MSI 2024 Start? Format and Schedule

The League of Legends MSI 2024 Tournament starts on May 1st, 2024. The tournament will consist of three separate stages, starting with the Play-In Stage where teams will compete for a chance to advance to the Bracket Stage and face off the best of the best. After the Bracket Stage, only two teams will advance to the Final to win it all.

The entire tournament will be played on Patch 14.8, so the pro players will have enough time to prepare and display their best strategies and team compositions. 

MSI 2024 Play-In Stage

This stage will played through May 1-5 as the second seed from the LCK, LPL, LEC, and LCS will be competing with the top seed from LLA, CBLOL, PCS, and VCS, totaling 8 teams. 

The 8 teams will be drawn in two, best-of-three (Bo3) double-elimination brackets as the winners and runner-ups of each bracket will advance to the next stage.

MSI 2024 Bracket Stage

The Bracket Stage will be played out from May 7-12. Once 4 teams have advanced from the Play-In Stage, they will have to face the remaining top seeds from LCK, LPL, LEC, and LCS for a total of 8 teams during this stage.

The teams will be drawn into four matches in a single best-of-five (Bo5) double-elimination bracket, finally leading to the Finals.

MSI 2024 Final

The MSI 2024 Final will be played on May 19, as the two remaining teams will have to prove why they deserve to be crowned the best so they can win the MSI 2024 Champion Title. The final match will be a standard best-of-five (Bo5) as many fans are rooting for an LCK vs LPL matchup, given how much both regions have been dominating internationally. 

Not only will the winners get a guaranteed spot at Worlds 2024 that will count as an additional slot for their region, but the next best-performing region at MSI will also secure an additional seed as long as they qualify for the respective region's Summer Playoffs.
