Hades 2 has finally been released in early access, and if you are a fan of the original, you are going to find everything you loved back in 2018 and more. With new characters, boons, areas, and enemies, as well as the switch to a different protagonist, Supergiant Games have made a massive amount of improvements upon what was already considered one of the best roguelikes ever made. While the game is not completely finished and it might be missing some story elements and features, Hades 2 already has more content in its early access compared to the full release of the original.

Supergiant Games have also revealed their development roadmap, showcasing what kind of new features and content players can expect in the next few months of early access. Here is everything you need to know about the Hades 2 developer roadmap!

Hades 2: Early Access Developer Roadmap

Supergiant Games have revealed their plans for the future of the Hades 2 early access in a message that you can find in the main menu once you are inside of the game. They explain that their first major update is going to be arriving later in the year and while there is going to be regular bug fixes and tuning, players should not expect a big patch in the foreseeable future. The game already has more content than expected and the first order of business will be to listen to player feedback and improve the overall experience.

They have, however, revealed what kind of content we can expect from this patch, which is arriving later in the year. In the first major Hades 2 update, players can expect to find a brand new region to explore, filled with new characters and enemies, as well as an update to the Crossroads main hub, allowing you to make cosmetic changes, similar to how it worked in the first game. A new weapon is also going to be added, as well as some new weapon aspects, which are going to create even more replayability. Here is the full Hades 2 early access developer roadmap:

Our First Major Update Is Later This Year: Please note that, while we will be monitoring feedback and reports carefully, our first Major Update will take some months following our initial launch. More details on it are below, and we appreciate your patience and understanding through this next stretch of development.
Beyond That: We expect to be in Early Access at least through the end of 2024. It's too early to say when our v1.0 launch will be until we have a good feel for Early Access development.

We intend to keep making additions, changes and improvements to keep building on what we want to be the biggest, most replayable, most feature-rich game we've made.

High Priority Tasks: These are major initiatives we're working on (though not all may be in the next update):

  • All-New Region to Explore: We're building a completely new area to explore, filled with more characters, foes and other surprises. You can expect it to be introduced later this year.
  • Crossroads Update: We're working on a system that lets you unlock various cosmetic embellishments to make the Crossroads feel more like home.
  • New Main Weapon: We have one more Main Weapon planned, along with new Weapon Aspects, so stay tuned for all-new ways to vanquish your foes.

We'll also keep expanding the story, adding more music and artwork and building on and polishing what's already in place.

Even in early access, Hades 2 already has dozens, if not hundreds, of hours of content for players who enjoy the roguelike genre, and even more additions are going to be coming towards the end of the year. We expect many people to join in early and try out the game, as Supergiant Games have not yet disappointed in any of their titles.
