Diablo 4 Season 3: What Are Vault Dungeons?

One of the main new mechanics introduced with Diablo 4's Season 3 is Vault Dungeons. These dungeons will act as one of the main activities in the endgame during the Season of the Construct. Once you reach World Tier 3, Vault Sigils (which are different from the regular Nightmare Sigils) will start to drop from enemies, and you can use these sigils to enter a Vault. These Vaults will act like normal dungeons, filled with monsters and objectives, but there will be a unique mechanic tied to them.

Vaults will be filled with different traps, hazards, and constructs that will try to stop you from completing the dungeon. However, your health is not the only thing they will be diminishing. A new mechanic called 'Zoltun’s Warding' will be applied to your character, protecting you from these traps, but each time you get hit, you will lose a part of the blessing. If you manage to complete the dungeon without losing the 'Zoltun’s Warding' buff, you will receive a Wardwoven Chest, which has a higher chance of granting Legendary items. In simple terms, avoid getting hit by traps and get more loot.

Another reason to run these Vaults is to obtain one of the new Season of the Construct resources - Governing and Tuning Stones. These Stones will be used to upgrade and customize your Seneschal Companion, a follower that will accompany you into battle for the rest of the season. Running these Vaults will reward you with different Stones, and completing them will allow you to upgrade them, increasing the strength of your companion.

Pearls of Warding is another new resource added in Season of the Construct and it can be used to reduce the strength of 'Zoltun’s Warding' buff in exchange for greater rewards at the end of the Vault. This gives players some agency, allowing them customize the difficulty of their run.
