If you are a fan of Helldivers 2, you will have no doubt heard about the PlayStation Network account linking that kicked off a massive review bomb. Players left so many negative reviews on Steam that Sony eventually backtracked on its demand. Fans of Helldivers 2 are still angry about the situation but are thankful that Arrowhead fought for them the whole time.

Sony mandated all Helldiver 2 Steam players to link to a PSN account but failed to take into consideration that there are hundreds of countries that do not have PlayStation Network coverage. Everyone came together to fight this demand, even those that would not be affected. Sony did back down and decided not to go forward with their plan.

Potential Review Bomb Cape in Helldivers 2

At the height of the controversy, Helldivers 2 was rated as "overwhelmingly negative" on Steam. Luckily, since then people have made it their mission to change the rating. Now the PSN account linking is no longer going forward, 64% of the recent reviews have been positive. Players have changed their reviews and shifted the rating to “mixed”.

Arrowhead's CEO Johan Pilestedt tweeted that he was thankful for everyone's support and impressed by how the community came together to deal with the problem. He also hinted that the shape of the negative reviews might be a great design for a cape. This has prompted many fans to come up with other capes ideas. All of them are based on the review bomb controversy.

Even though the PSN account linking must have been difficult for Arrowhead, Pilestedt is taking it in his stride. He seems genuinely interested in commemorating the community’s victory. He has even joked about pricing but later clarified that it will be free. The only thing now is to think of a name for the cape. Fans have suggested “We Dive Together” or “Voice of Democracy”.

We have heard nothing about when we can expect to see this new cape appear in Helldivers 2 but we can agree that it’s a great idea to celebrate the fact that we all came together as a community.
