The developers of Enshrouded have published their release trailer and changelog highlights a day ahead of the full release. In a post dated October 14, the team says Enshrouded releases the next day, with update 1.0.0.0 completing the story of Embervale "for now".

If you've been waiting for the whole map, this is the update that opens it. Below are the highlights from the official post, from the new biome and progression changes to combat, building and early game tweaks.

A Full Map and New Levels of Power

The biggest addition is Cinder's Cradle, a new northern area beyond the gates past the Veilwater Basin. Below, lava flows through a wasteland of ruins. Above, the Ancients have lifted the earth into floating islands with unusual fauna and guardians. The post says the new biome is only part of the now complete map:

  • Two new Hollow Halls open, one in the Albaneve Summits and one in Veilwater Basin.
  • New areas expand Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes toward the edges of the world, including new Shroud roots.
  • The main quest sends you back into structures in older biomes, some of which players had searched for hidden entrances.

Progression moves up too. The new maximum player level is 50, and gear can be upgraded to level 55. The next Flame Level raises the maximum of Flame Altars to 15, and a new survivor specializing in Ancient knowledge and recipes joins your base. If you want a refresher, our guide on how to upgrade the Flame Altar covers the basics.

One warning from the changelog: when you first play version 1.0.0.0 with an existing save, the skill tree is reset. Make sure you spend your skill points again.

Combat, Sparkworks and Presentation

The combat focus was on mages. The update adds 9 new types of spells, including crowd control, area damage, summons and utility, plus more tiers of existing spells. All spells now have eternal variations, and eternal spells and arrows can be upgraded like weapons. The new Cinder's Cradle faction brings 14 new enemy types, and with variants elsewhere the total is 37 new enemies.

Other highlights from the post:

  • Necromancy: you can summon skeletons to fight alongside you, with new weapon gems and support skills.
  • Wands: a heavy attack is available immediately, and evasive and aerial attacks can be unlocked as active skills.
  • Sparkworks: a new logic system for building your own gameplay, from light switches to trapped dungeons, puzzles and arenas.
  • Brick renderer: terrain and voxel buildings show much more detail at a distance, and HDR is now supported.
  • Voice: lore notes, main crafting survivors and major quest-giver survivors are voiced in English, German and Mandarin Chinese.

Quality of Life and Early Game Changes

The team also reworked the first hours. Early regions in Springlands and Revelwood get more chests, roads and enemy camps were touched up, and early crafting recipes were reworked to reduce grind. Player suggestions made it in as well:

  • A free-flying building mode skill.
  • Storage chests that can be upgraded in place.
  • A larger loot pickup radius, on demand or automatic through the gameplay settings.
  • A choice between classic and more realistic character proportions, changeable at the Barber.
  • Custom names for map markers and chests.
  • Better fishing progression, where designated bait per tier lets you hunt specific fish.
  • A reworked Albaneve Summits boss with a substantial health nerf and a safer arena.
