Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4 goes live at 0000 (midnight) ET on November 6, which is 2100 PT on November 5, on Steam. The season follows closely after the game's launch and covers Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone.

Here's what the official Season 1 blog confirmed, from the maps and modes to the Battle Pass and BlackCell. If you're still setting up your loadouts, our look at Modern Warfare 4 weapons and loadout details is a good companion.

Multiplayer Maps and Modes

There are more than six new maps this season. At launch, you get Backstab, a snowy 6v6 medium-sized map, Canyon, a sun-scorched 6v6 map with towering rock walls, and a reimagined Shoot House. The mid-season update adds Ministry and Overflow, plus further maps that haven't been detailed yet. The remastered Shipment is already playable as a pre-season addition.

Modes get a boost too:

  • Possession (new, October 29) lets you steal an enemy's Loadout after eliminating them
  • Infected (returning, October 30) pits Survivors against a growing swarm
  • Grind and Drop Zone return at launch
  • Gauntlet 1v1 Gunfight arrives at launch through the Wager Match Event

Counter Attack and a new twist on Team Deathmatch are due at mid-season. The new Kill Block combo, Crash, keeps all three slabs static between rounds and also appears in other Core Multiplayer playlists, including Search and Destroy.

DMZ and Warzone

DMZ opens the X01 Black Site, a former GRANIT Arms facility reached through Hajin. It's a maze of tunnels, production lines and a sealed Deep Vault, and Ghost guides your squad with new DMZ Orders. Expect new gear, shrinking extraction options and two events. In Threat Briefing you take down bosses like a North Korean main battle tank or The Captain, while Resupply Run has you hunt specific items for rewards such as Self Revives and 3-Plate Carriers.

Warzone gets two new maps, Hajin and Zodiac, and Verdansk and Rebirth Island return. Modern Warfare 4 also becomes fully integrated with the free-to-play game. A separate Warzone post and roadmap are due on Monday, November 2.

Weapons, Battle Pass and BlackCell

The Cronen Osprey assault rifle (Battle Pass Tier 16, 882 RPM) and the CSG-35 SMG (Tier 36, 1200 RPM) arrive at launch. The JAK 12 shotgun and ZLR Talonhawk melee axe follow later as event rewards.

The Season 1 Battle Pass has a 100-tier linear track and costs 1,100 COD Points, while the Battle Pass Bundle costs 2,400. A new catch-up system guarantees 50+ rewards for premium owners, with late joiners caught up to the reward for the current day of the season, up to day 50. Tier 100 rewards the Ultra "Bellum" Mosin-Nagant blueprint. BlackCell adds the XERO Operator and the "Perimeter Lance" M4 blueprint, and Vault Edition owners get this season's BlackCell offering.

The post also covers the Wager Match Event, the Joint Fire squad event and the Call of Duty Endowment Valor Pack. Verifying your account email unlocks the "Locked Down" universal camo. For more, check our guide to Modern Warfare 4 progression and prestige.
