Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Is Live Worldwide - Play Now!
We will go over what Modern Warfare 4 has at launch, from 20 multiplayer maps and DMZ to the Vault Edition and Discord rewards.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is now live worldwide, and the developers posted their launch rundown on Steam on October 23. The campaign has Price on the run, conflict erupting on the Korean Peninsula and a catastrophic weapon of war on the verge of falling into the wrong hands.
If you're jumping in today, the post covers what you get on day one, from maps and the DMZ extraction mode to the Vault Edition and a new Discord link bonus. We will go over the main points so you know what to expect before you deploy.
What Modern Warfare 4 Has at Launch
Multiplayer ships with 20 maps. That includes 12 new 6v6 maps, 4 Gunfight maps, 3 Ground War maps and the new Kill Block modular training facility. The developers describe the combat as grounded and precise, built around fluid movement, player choice and greater control in every engagement.
In the DMZ extraction mode, you operate as an off-the-books asset behind enemy lines. Every deployment into contested territory forces hard choices about which objectives to pursue, what to secure and when to get out.
The official launch post also points to deeper reads on operators, weapons and equipment, maps and modes, progression and prestige, and two DMZ deep dives. For the loadout side, see our breakdown of Modern Warfare 4 operators, weapons and equipment.
Vault Edition, Valor Pack and Discord Rewards
The Vault Edition adds premium content on top of the Digital Edition:
- Hunter Killer Operator Skin
- Hostile Alliance Operator Pack: Operator Skins for Price, Valeria, Ghost and Blix
- Special Forces Operator Pack: Operator Skins for the United Kingdom, Germany, France and South Korea, each with voice packs in local languages
- Signature Weapon Collection: five Signature weapons with multiple Attachments, including an Apex Attachment
- BlackCell (one season): BlackCell content, the current Battle Pass and up to 20 Tier Skips
- DMZ Deployment Bonus
The five Signature blueprints are the "Voltspine" Kastov 762 Assault Rifle, the "La Sombra Venenosa" ISO Nightshade SMG, the "Shattered Code" Rezi 12 Shotgun, the "Volt-Edge" Oris 8.6 Marksman Rifle and the "Sombra Besada" Combat Knife. If you pre-ordered the Digital Standard Edition, you can upgrade to the Vault Edition later, as long as you do it on the same platform as your original purchase. Steps vary by platform, so check your storefront.
There's also a new Call of Duty Endowment (C.O.D.E.) Valor Pack, available at launch in Multiplayer and DMZ before it reaches Warzone with Season 1. It was created with U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter. The pack includes the "Valor" Operator, the "Relentless" Operator Skin, three blueprints, a charm, a sticker, a calling card, an emblem, a loading screen and 1 hour each of Double Level XP and Double Weapon XP tokens. One hundred percent of Activision's net proceeds go to the Endowment, which helps U.S. and U.K. veterans find jobs.
USAA is again offering the pack free to U.S. active and former military members, while supplies last, with an XNow account required.
Finally, linking your Discord account gives you direct access to Discord friends and lets you send invites from the game. You also get a bonus Calling Card. If you linked during the Beta, you need to link again, though your Calling Card, 1 hour of Double XP and 1 hour of Double Weapon XP will already be in your inventory.
To link or re-link:
- Sign in to the Activision account you use to play Call of Duty.
- Open Account Linking and select Discord.
- Sign into your Discord account and hit authorize.
- Return to the game and restart it so the new features become available.
On PC, you can also use the Discord tab in the in-game Social menu.
