The First Descendant: Kuiper Shard Boost Notice & Compensation Rewards
Here's what NEXON says went wrong with the Kuiper Shard Boost, how it's being corrected and what compensation you can claim.
NEXON has published an updated notice about an issue with the Kuiper Shard Boost item in The First Descendant. The update, posted on November 5, 2026, shares the results of the investigation, the follow-up measures and a compensation plan for affected players.
If you've been running boosts in endgame content, this matters to you. Below, we cover what went wrong, what the boosts actually apply to, and how to claim the apology rewards before they expire.
What Went Wrong With the Kuiper Shard Boost
The original notice explained that the Kuiper Shard Boost effect wasn't applied correctly to certain rewards in Onslaught and Trials. Using the boost did increase the total Kuiper Shards you obtained. However, it wasn't applied to the "Wave" rewards in Onslaught or the "Commander Combat Zone" rewards in Trials, so the item never delivered its full described value.
NEXON planned to fix this in Patch 1.4.8, scheduled for release that week, so the boost also covers those two reward types. You can read what else shipped in our Patch 1.4.8 notes.
The team then looked into whether other content was affected. According to the official notice, nothing beyond Onslaught and Trials was.
What Boosts Apply To
While reviewing the scope, NEXON also clarified the current criteria to avoid confusion:
- Gold Boost and Kuiper Shard Boost apply only to rewards from defeating monsters and rewards for completing missions.
- Boost effects don't apply to rewards for meeting unlock conditions or reaching record milestones.
- Container Rewards from Breach Tracking and Bounty Operations will also receive all boost effects with the November 16, 2026 (Monday) update.
Compensation Details
As an apology for the Kuiper Shard Boost error in Onslaught and Trials, NEXON is sending compensation by mail to every Descendant who logs in during the distribution period. That period runs from November 6, 2026 at 00:00 to November 11, 2026 at 22:59 PST. Rewards reach your Mailbox about 10 minutes after you log in.

- 5x 3-Hour Kuiper Shard Boost (30%)
- 1x Crystallization Catalyst
- 10,000,000 Gold
- 500,000x Kuiper Shard
The mail expires on November 17, 2026 at 22:59 PST, so claim it before then. NEXON also says it will review its processes more thoroughly to prevent a repeat and will keep sharing the results of its responses whenever an issue arises.
