Sometimes enemies can cast Ailments on your allies that will make the fight harder until you remedy them. Some Ailments can even affect your characters after the fight is over! Metaphor: ReFantazio - All Status Ailments & Cures
There are two distinct types of Ailments that can affect your characters differently. Physical Ailments are usually conditions that prevent you from regenerating HP and MP, as well as damaging you over time. It's important to heal these as soon as you can, because they persist even after the battle has ended. Mental Ailments only last until the battle ends, but their effects are severe, and fighting without curing them might prove impossible.
No matter the Ailment, there's always a healing item or spell that can counter it. Let's discuss all the Status Ailments you can encounter in Metaphor: ReFantazio, and what items and skills can cure them.
Physical Ailments
Burn
- Effect: Depletes HP after every action
- Item Cure: Fermis Ointment
- Skill Cure: Patra (Healer), Pen Patra (Saviour)
Poison
- Effect: Depletes HP after every action
- Item Cure: Robust Remedy
- Skill Cure: Patra (Healer), Pen Patra (Saviour)
Frostbite
- Effect: Greatly reduces attack damage
- Item Cure: Heartwarmer
- Skill Cure: Patra (Healer), Pen Patra (Saviour)
Paralysis
- Effect: Actions likely to fail
- Item Cure: Vitamin Relaxant
- Skill Cure: Patra (Healer), Pen Patra (Saviour)
Malady
- Effect 1: All stats down
- Effect 2: HP and MP can't recover
- Item Cure: Ailment Absolution
- Skill Cure: Patra (Healer), Pen Patra (Saviour)
Hex
- Effect 1: Take half the damage you deal
- Effect 2: Greatly reduced Dark resistance
- Effect 3: Increased susceptibility to Ailment
- Item Cure: Purified Teacake

Mental Ailments
Charm
- Effect 1: Loss of control of the affected character
- Effect 2: Will cause aid to enemies or attack on allies
- Item Cure: Slapstick Fan

Sleep
- Effect 1: All actions fail
- Effect 2: All damage taken is critical
- Item Cure: Thrilling Tintinnabulator

Anxiety
- Effect 1: Archetype skills fail
- Effect 2: Enemies who attack the affected character won't consume a Turn Icon
- Item Cure: Soothing Sweetbun

Forget
- Effect: Archetype skills fail
- Item Cure: Notebook of Remembrance
- Skill Cure: Patra (Healer), Pen Patra (Saviour)
Rage
- Effect 1: Enemy damage greatly increased
- Effect 2: Higher attack power
- Effect 3: All actions become normal weapon attacks
- Item Cure: Tranquilliser
- Skill Cure: Patra (Healer), Pen Patra (Saviour)
Daze
- Effect: Attack hit rate greatly reduced
- Item Cure: Sulphurous Salt
- Skill Cure: Patra (Healer), Pen Patra (Saviour)
Stun
- Enemy Ailment only
- Effect: Actions fail for one turn
