LoL Tier List - Best Mid Lane Champions
Riot Games

It's time for the Mid Lane Tier List, ranking League of Legends champions from best to worst in the current Patch 14.4. This guide will assist you in climbing Ranked effortlessly by selecting the most powerful midlaners in LoL. With the mid meta undergoing another shift by Riot Games, here are the top Mid Picks for Ranked in League of Legends Season 14, patch 14.4. Stay updated to dominate your games with the strongest champions in the mid lane.

S Tier Mid Champions:

Aurelion Sol

Aurelion Sol

Aurelion Sol has been in the S+ tier since the previous patch, in which he received some serious buffs to his Q and W. The lesser mana costs made Aurelion Sol way more active in mid-lane. The nerfs in Patch 14.4 didn't bring this champion down:

  • Bonus Magic Damage Pers 1s: 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 (+ 35% AP) (+ (3.1% Stardust)% of target's maximum health ⇒ 55 / 65 / 75 / 85 / 95 (+ 30% AP) (+ (3.1% Stardust)% of target's maximum health

The Lost Chapter Items buff made it up for this nerf. His win rate is lower since patch 14.3 but still great - 53%. Aurelion Sol seems to be an amazing pick for Ranked.

Ahri

Ahri

Ahri's recent buffs made her unstoppable. The removal of Everfrost left her in a weak state but Riot managed to make her OP again by increasing the damage of her Q - AP Ratio:

  • 45% AP ⇒ 50% AP.

Her health buff allows her to kite more safely now, especially when using her R to dash towards the enemy:

  • Health Growth: 96 ⇒ 104.

The Malignance buff also helps Ahri dominate the mid lane. This change affects a lot of LoL mages positively.

  • Ability Haste: 20 ⇒ 25.

Twisted Fate has kept his position in the S-Tier over the last three patches. Despite the small nerf, he's still dominating 3 different lanes and is a great choice for a champion to main. Karma is also an amazing pick, especially in combination with the buffed Malignance.

Other S-Tier Champions:

  • Twisted Fate
  • Karma
  • Fizz
  • Cassiopeia
  • Taliyah
  • Sylas
  • Lux
  • Irelia
  • Brand
  • Vladimir
  • Naafiri
  • Akali

A-Tier Mid Champions:

Kassadin

Kassadin

Kassadin is a solid midlaner champ choice in Patch 14.4. The Lost Chapter Item buff helped him climb up a few tiers:

  •  Ability Haste: 20 ⇒ 25

Kassadin has a decent win rate of 52% and low pick and ban rates, which makes him a great choice for Ranked climbing.

Taliyah

Taliyah

The buffs in Patch 14.3 made Taliyah shine through. We're still seeing the results from them in patch 14.4:

  • Q Damage: 50/70/90/110/130 (+50% AP) ⇒ 60/78/96/114/132 (+50% AP)
  • E Cooldown: 16/15.5/15/14.5/14 seconds ⇒ 14 seconds at all ranks

She's still in the A-Tier, as a decent choice for both Jungle and Mid Lane. The low pick and ban rates make her a solid and reliable choice in Ranked.

Champions such as Orianna and Syndra are becoming stronger thanks to the Lost Chapter itemization buffs. The bad place Bruisers and Assassins find themselves in helps them out even more.

Other A-Tier Champions:

  • Anivia
  • Orianna
  • Syndra
  • Lissandra
  • Swain
  • Zed
  • Xerath
  • Ekko
  • Victor

B-Tier Mid Champions:

Qiyana

Qiyana

Assassins, such as Qiyana and Talon, are doing good in Ranked, but mainly in high elo (and pro play). It's all about skill when it comes to them, but the good thing is the ban and pick rate for them is very low. There haven't been any changes in their performance state so it's all about how well you can play them.

Other B-Tier Champions:

There has been a slight shift in the lower tiers of this list since the last patch. Overall, this is where the champion pics start getting weaker. Seraphine is still performing better as an ADC, than a midlaner.

  • Yasuo
  • Yone
  • Talon
  • Pantheon
  • Ziggs
  • Annie
  • Zoe
  • Azir
  • Diana
  • Seraphine

C-Tier Champions:

Smolder

Smolder

Smolder got some interesting adjustments in the last LoL patch, such as:

  • Q - 125 Stacks Number of Missiles: 2 + 1% Dragon Practice Stacks ⇒ 1 + 1.5% Dragon Practice Stacks
  • W - Cooldown: 13-11 ⇒ 14-10
  • R - Will cast even if Smolder dies during cast time

This helped Smolder a lot as an ADC, skyrocketing him to the S-Tier. However, when it comes to mid lane, the dragon isn't performing as well. The high 30% ban rate is a huge downside to this champion.

Corki

Corki

Corki has been stuck in C-Tier for a while now. He's still suffering from a low win rate of 47% - unchanged since the last patch which brought adjustments aimed at encouraging more aggressive Corki playstyles with AP items. A significant setback for Corki is that Malignance no longer contributes to his Eclipse passive, becoming one of the reasons for his bad performance.

We're seeing characters such as Ezreal and LeBlanc at the bottom of this tier list due to their bad win rate. They're not doing well currently and are not a good choice for Ranked, even for experienced LoL players. We wouldn't be surprised if the next patch brings a LeBlanc buff since she hasn't been performing well for a while now.

  • Vex
  • Veigar
  • Leblanc
  • Corki
  • Hwei
  • Ezreal

Summary:

Patch 14.4 brings new changes to the current midlane meta. Items keep getting nerfs and buffs, which explains why the tier lists are so different with each patch. The Lost Chapter Items Buff changed the meta in League of Legends in this patch.
