Clash Royale Tier List: Best Cards Ranked for January 2024

Supercell has announced the new season of Clash Royale, called King vs. King, and it is all about competition. The release notes promise new tournament features, new challenges and "maybe something more."

The season centers on Giant and Mirror Evolutions, a month-long win condition event and a few new ways to build and test decks. Below is everything the official release notes say is coming, with the dates they give.

New Evolutions

Giant Evolution still targets buildings and works as the front liner of a push. Let him take enough damage and he becomes enraged, leaving a trail of Rage that boosts every troop that follows it. Each of his attacks makes the trail bigger, so the longer you keep him alive, the stronger your push gets. You can unlock him in Pass Royale or with Wild Shards.

Mirror Evolution copies the last card you played, but evolved and with 1 extra level. The card you mirror doesn't have to be in an Evo Slot or in your Collection, as long as an Evolution exists for it. If the card has no Evolution, you get what base Mirror gives you: the same card, 1 level higher. It arrives in the Shop from the second week of the season, or you can unlock it with Wild Shards.

Events and Features

  • King of Cards Event (November 9th to December 7th): from Week 2, each week boosts a different set of win conditions, while Giant and Mirror stay boosted all season. Week 2 covers Battle Ram, Hog Rider, Mortar, Minion Giant and Goblin Barrel. Week 3 has Balloon, Royale Hogs, Three Musketeers, Royal Giant, Ram Rider and Wall Breakers. Week 4 has Goblin Giant, Skeleton Barrel, Golem, Electro Giant, Lava Hound and Elixir Golem, and Week 5 has X-Bow, Miner, Graveyard and Goblin Drill.
  • Weekly challenges: Quick Wit runs November 16th to 23rd, Beatdown November 23rd to 30th, and Siege & Chip November 30th to December 7th. Along with the event, they award Crown Tokens and other rewards.
  • Daily Puzzles (November 2nd to 8th): each day brings a new scenario where you use 1 to 4 cards to beat the cards played against you. The scenario is identical every attempt, and each of your cards can be played once. The puzzles are about skill and bragging rights for solving them in the fewest attempts, not rewards. A second set comes later in the season.
  • Royal Market (November 9th to December 7th): cosmetics and other items cost Crown Tokens. The market is fully open from Week 2, and the most coveted items unlock after you spend 3,000 Crown Tokens.
  • Deck Wizard: it replaces the Magic Wand and builds a deck from scratch or around your favorites. In your Duel Deck it recommends cards from your Collection that your other decks haven't used. It lands in the Trophy Road deck-building tab in Week 2, on a testing basis, so you may see it a bit later.

Competitive Mode and World Finals

Supercell also teases a new competitive mode and says everything will be revealed at the World Finals. The Clash Royale League World Finals run November 6th to 8th in Shanghai, with the 16 best players in a double-elimination bracket to crown the CRL26 World Champion. Matches start at 03:00 UTC each day, and you can watch on the Event Platform.

Bug Fixes

  • Mega Knight is no longer immune to Evolved Hunter's net while jumping.
  • Evolved Mega Knight is no longer immune to Tornado while attacking.
  • Bandit is no longer knocked back when dashing into Evolved Wizard's shield.
  • Evolved Wall Breakers now do death damage while being pulled in by Fisherman.
  • Evolved Battle Ram's charge is now interrupted by Zap and similar interactions when pushing itself back before its next charge.
  • Hero Ice Wizard now refunds Elixir if defeated before his projectile hits the target.

That covers the King vs. King season. Want to see how the cards stack up before you pick an Evolution? Check our Clash Royale tier list for January 2024, and read about the latest Merge Tactics balance changes.
